Collecting dole from post office...

Everyone signing on the Live Register from now on will have to collect their weekly benefit payment at a post office instead of it being paid automatically to their bank account.
You must collect your payment within three days of your payment day. After signing on, you will receive a letter saying when you can collect your first payment. Be careful not to miss it! If you do not collect it on time the payment will be returned to the department and there will be a delay in getting reissued to you.

What to bring to post office to collect dole?
You will need to bring your swipe card (social services card) or a temprorary signing card (yellow), which you can get in your social welfare centre.

If you have any questions, please ask!

I say you will be alright. Why don't you just call to your local post office and double check???

Dear Ann & Pat,

I'm very sorry for ur husband. Should be very hard to manage everything alone. Hope he gets well soon.

You need to go to you local social welfare office and talk to them.

You can ask them to do bank transfer (do bring papers from the hospital to be on the safe side).

I know there is a form where you can request money paid to the bank...

Good luck!

Another way. I heard that you can call to HSE ( your local health office) explain them situation and they might help you as well.

Hello, My freind returned home to Ireland in November afer living abroad for 8 years. Unfortunately he has not been able to get a job and the social welfare are giving him absolutly nothing. He is finding it very difficult now as his savings are almost gone, can you please advise of anything he can do. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Amy

I received a letter telling me to get my first payment tomorrow and I don't have a card, How do I get the payment? also how do I get the card?

To CROW
First thing in the morning - go to your social welfare office. They will issue a temprorary card and only then you can collect your money.
The swipe will come in the post but be sure to remind them to send it to you.

I think you would be able to collect it.Usually you can collect within 3 days. Call your post office or check with them personally.

Signed off in January, was getting paid into account then. If I sign on now, (same claim), will I have to collect from Post Office?

can you collect your dole in any post office? or does it have to be your local post office?

Singo133. It will be the post office you are going to nominate so choose carefully.
